If you have serious trouble with your skin, you may require professional help for your acne, and acne pills may be prescribed. There are a number of different types of acne pills that you can try to improve your skin, depending on the seriousness of the problem. When you pay a visit to your dermatologist, he or she will asses your skin problem and find the perfect medication for you.

Some of the most common acne pills are tetracycline and minocycline, and doxycycline. These pills are oral antibiotics, and they work by controlling the growth of bacteria and reducing the inflammation in the skin. Be cautious when you use these medications however, because there are side effects involved. Some patients report feeling light headed, or dizzy when they use acne pills. Your skin is also more susceptible to sun burns and you must use caution in the sunlight.

A stronger option to these acne pills is Accutane. Accutane is a very strong acne medication that is used for patients that have very severe acne. This pill is said to virtually eliminate acne from the patient, however it comes with some very serious side effects that the patient needs to be cautious of.
