Accutane Is a Serious Cystic Acne Treatment For Hard To Treat Cases
If you suffer from deep, painful pimples, you may need cystic acne treatment in order to solve your problem. Cystic acne is a severe type of acne where the patient has deep cysts under the skin. The cysts can be extremely painful and can cause deep scarring if left untreated. If you suffer from this painful type of acne, the cystic acne treatment that you use should be determined by a dermatologist.
A common cystic acne treatment is an oral retinoid called Accutane. Accutane is a serious oral medication that needs to be used with caution and only under the direct supervision of a medical professional. Accutane works by shrinking the oil glands under the skin so that much less oil is produced. When less oil is produced, less bacteria forms resulting in fewer outbreaks, and a decrease in the occurrence of cystic acne.
Accutane is very strong drug, and therefore is generally a last resort as a cystic acne treatment. Because oil production is decreased dramatically, the facial skin becomes very dry, often cracking. Other side effects include a very high increase of birth defects if the patient becomes pregnant while taking the mediation, muscle aches, sensitivity to the sun, and in serious cases, changes in liver function.
